But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Matthew 16:23
Our dear ex-zone leader from Georgia sent this to us (he isn't just our ex-zone leader, but now a dear friend, but I love it that he was our zone leader for a long time and so it is special to refer to him as that). His mother writes beautiful poetry to which many will relate. He also writes some amazing stuff, so it must run in the family. At the bottom is the link to her blog if you'd like to read more of her poetry. The title of it is the scripture above.
Another beautiful sunny day in Darwen. I'm glad you're up there watching over us, Dear Lord. |
-Matthew 16:23
I'll put up with the cars
that break down every time I drive.
I'll endure the lack of thanks and pay
I get from nine to five.
I'll listen to the whiners,
bellyachers and complainers,
I'll ignore the high and mighty,
the judgemental parade-rainers.
But I will not take my eyes off
of the serpent on the pole.
I will not let your efforts leave me
one speck less than whole.
I'll fight you.
I'll ignore you.
I'll repeat it till I bore you,
but, Sir, let me assure you that
you will not take this soul!
I'll take the sickness, stress and loss.
Baby, bring it on!
For I am made of better stuff
than you have ever known.
I'll take whatever threats you wield,
whatever spears you throw,
but Lucifer, I cannot yield.
I can't
because I know!
