Looking for a Carvery in Amongst the Pub Food

Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.  Acts 14:17

Okay, so now we have had a spiritual feast with the words of inspiration and guidance given from the pulpit at General Conference, we must now turn our task to finding food to eat while our family is visiting this week and next.  We are SO EXCITED to have a daughter and two grandsons coning to see us in England!!  We have to borrow mattresses from the mission for beds, get some extra bedding, and plan what to feed them while they are here.  They need to have a real carvery experience, since that says English food to us.  There were carveries all over in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stock-and Trent areas, but we haven't found one in the Blackburn, Chorley, or Darwen area yet!!
I finally went in on the Internet and found a carvery about six miles from here.  It is called "Toby Carvery."  That doesn't sound too traditional, but the sign looks English.

 and the food looks fantastic!
Typical carvery food-YUM!!
This is a "pudding"
A"Pudding" is the word for all desserts, so an apple pie could be a "pud.
The Elders told us yesterday there is also one in Blackburn called, "Old Mother Redcap."  We'll check that out.
We DID check it out and it was good!
Gravy on everything!!
We have found many pubs, where the food is marvelous, but not the same as a carvery experience.  In fact, I've been collecting the names of pubs and carveries since we've arrived.  Here is a partial list of some more recent places I've seen or hear of:
(The)
Lettuce's Slug
Craven Heifer
Dog and Partridge
Fox and Goose
Headless Woman
Bleeding Wolf
Legs of Man
Swan With Two Necks
Everything "Arms" you can imagine, as in, Butcher's Arms, Cooper Arms, Chetwynd Arms, Foresters Arms . . .
Everything Rose as in Rose and Crown, Cheshire Rose . . .
Everything Swan as in White Swan, Lion and the Swan, the Swan and the Rose . . .
Everything horses as in The Shire Horse, The Black Horse, The Gray Mare, The Pack Horse . . .
Everything bulls as in The Red Bull, The Bull's Head . .  .
This is different
Okay, so you get the idea--lots of animals, crowns, arms, swans, etc.  I love it all with the quaint signs usually hanging out in front of these places identifying themselves.

It is interesting that the "Beautiful Horses and Death by Gravy" is one of the most often hit post on this blog.  There is only one picture of carvery food on that post, I think.  I don't know if it is the combination of words used in that post with "horses" "death" and "gravy," or it sounds intriguing.  In any case, we will be filling up on that wonderful gravy during this next week as we attempt to fill the family to the brim with good 'ole English food!!
