A missionary is someone who leaves his or her home for a little while so others can have their families forever.

Our Mission Scriptures

Our Mission Scriptures:

"Oh, that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart . . . Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth." Alma 29:1-2 (Book of Mormon)

" . . . be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 15:58 (Bible)

Service is a Joy

"Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness." Doctrine and Covenants 58:27

We picked up the Stoke Elders (one is from Finland and the other is from Armenia) in the morning yesterday and took off for a fun couple hours for a service project for a dear sister who is allergic to grass and cannot do her yard or she'll break out all over.

It was the best feeling to be out in the sunshine on a beautiful fall day and to stand back and see everything all tidy when we got done.
The only thing that is haunting me still is, I killed a frog and I love frogs!  He was hiding in some tall grass where I used a shovel to chop it out.  I am grieving over him and am very sorry I took his life.  He should be in frog heaven and at peace.  I don't think creatures have anything to repent of so they have to automatically go to a good place.  That put a damper on things or else the day would have been perfect.

The other highlight is to work with the young missionaries.  We were no sooner out of the car than they had grabbed a rake and a shovel and went to work.  They didn't wait for directions or anything--just saw what needed to be done and went to work not wasting a minute.  They loved the ride into the country, since they rarely get out that far out since they have no car.  We will take them with us another time so they can proselyte in the area while we do a lesson at the member's home.
Trying to get as much in the bin as possible.
He was working with the rake before I even got to the door to tell the sister we were there

Quick progress and we got free pears off the tree!
We almost forgot there was a front yard too--the Elder in the back is overseeing the project-ha,ha

Bright beams from above--this is our district leader still supervising ( :
More beams from above--angels?
I joined the picture and the beams left--what is that about?
We are done with our fun.  Hope we get to go back again.  Elder Z took the picture, so he is missing.
