Missions are Fun

A missionary is someone who leaves his or her home for a little while so others can have their families forever.

Curious about Mormons? Go to the source and find real people at mormon.org--read what they believe and have live chats if you wish! (an official Church website)

Or, go to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, official web site: lds.org.

Note: The Blain's England Manchester Mission blog is a personal blog that is not endorsed, approved, or sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Our Mission Scriptures

Our Mission Scriptures:

"Oh, that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart . . . Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth." Alma 29:1-2 (Book of Mormon)

" . . . be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 15:58 (Bible)

Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall--Don't Be Ducks in Dangerous Places

. . . Nevertheless, I will bring you up again out of the depths of the sea; for the winds have gone forth out of my moth, and also the rains and the floods have I sent forth.  And behold, I prepare you against these things; for ye cannot cross this great deep save I prepare you against the waves of the sea, and the winds, which have gone forth, and the floods which shall come . . . Ether 2:24-25

Most of the places we watch with concern for the safety of our family are getting more rain and snow than they need.  There is flooding and mud slides in diverse places.  Frightful and devastating tornadoes are taking lives.  Natural disasters seem everywhere in the world.  We sorrow with and pray for those affected by these horrifying and terrible storms and events.

There are also our own personal storms in life we must weather.  If we are going to have challenges, perhaps we can at least be prepared with faith and hope so we are strong enough and knowledgeable enough to make good choices that will minimize the danger of us being spiritually lost.

Speaking of being lost, I saw two wild ducks in the ASDA parking lot today in the rain apparently settled into what seems to be their new home.  We saw them there in the evening last week dodging traffic, people, and grocery carts.  Have they really chosen to taken up permanent residence in this dangerous area?  Why would they prefer to be there than in a lovely park or woodland where there is a safe body of water?  It is a male and female duck, so how will they have a nest and hatch ducklings?  They have no idea what they are missing.  Their future doesn't look too bright at the moment.
Pouring rain and apparently lovin' it
Are these ducks like people in some ways?  They can choose to be in a better place, but they would rather put up with this dangerous spot so they don't have to put out too much effort.  Here they get free crumbs without any work, not knowing that those crumbs do not provide the diet they need to stay healthy.  They do not realize that they cannot experience a full life in this worldly parking lot. They could experience much more safety, serenity, and grow to fulfill their purpose in a place God naturally provides for them.
Oh, pretty ducks in ASDA, Acrington, please wake up and choose a better life for yourselves!!
