A missionary is someone who leaves his or her home for a little while so others can have their families forever.

Our Mission Scriptures

Our Mission Scriptures:

"Oh, that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart . . . Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth." Alma 29:1-2 (Book of Mormon)

" . . . be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 15:58 (Bible)

Fat Tuesday & I Float Because of The Abudance of Gravy in England & Don't Smoke!

" . . . a principle with promise, . . . this word of wisdom . . . walking in obedience . . . shall receive health . . . wisdom . . . great treasures of knowledge . . . run and not be weary . . . walk and not faint . . ."  Doctrine and Covenants 89:1-21

March is the month to remember all Marie Curie did to lay the groundwork to combat cancer.  She gave her life because of her radium research.  People wear a yellow daffodil here in England for cancer awareness month and to honor her.
Okay, so today people are celebrating Fat Tuesday and throwing beads around.  I celebrated it by floating in the baptismal font at the Preston Temple!  We went there because it was the night for the young single adults to do baptisms.  I thought it would be a nice experience since I hadn't done any baptisms for a long time.  For the life of me, I could not keep one foot from flying up and tossing me across the font, so instead of being immersed once for each of the ten people on my list, I got the privilege of doing some of the baptisms over.  I never had this problem before.  The member of the stake presidency said it was because I was too thin and I was just floating away.  He was trying to relax me, I'm sure.  He needs to repent for lying or else he has very poor eyesight.  I know it is because of the gravy here in England.  It is the gravy's fault that I am extra buoyant!!  If I was obeying the Word of Wisdom entirely, I wouldn't be over eating.  Fat floats, so thumbs down on Fat Tuesday for me!

On a serious note, the reason I have posted parts of the Word of Wisdom scripture is because March was the month we received the news my mother had lung cancer.  It was only a few months later when she died.  I have also lost a step-father to emphysema and a grandfather and an uncle to lung cancer.  I wonder how much of that second smoke I breathed in the first 18 years of my life will contribute to problems for me?

Thank you to all my family members who have quit smoking.  I'm so proud of them and encourage everyone to give it up.  Life is too precious to shorten it in any way.  In many cases we can't control how long we live, but smoking is one way to toss out some of that allocated life time.
I took of picture of this on the counter at an apartment we were looking at a couple weeks ago.  The lady who was doing the painting had left it there.  I wonder why there is anyone who smokes in England.  This would scare me off!  By law, all of the cigarette packages have this on them, yet there are a lot of smokers here in England.  We see many young teens in front of the schools smoking.  It is sad to see people doing that to themselves.  I've heard it is also the younger generation in the U.S. that is ignoring the warnings.
