A missionary is someone who leaves his or her home for a little while so others can have their families forever.

Our Mission Scriptures

Our Mission Scriptures:

"Oh, that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart . . . Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth." Alma 29:1-2 (Book of Mormon)

" . . . be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 15:58 (Bible)

Seek and Find--a Hamburger?

This is a stand where Elder Blain was drawn towards as the smell of beef and onions wafted his way.  Not only did he get a great burger, but he talked to the proprietors of the stand--a young soon-to-be married couple who shared that they are getting married in a church on 11 June.  He told them there was a way to be married not only for time, but for all eternity.  They are very interested in knowing more about that.  Since they are only there with their stand on Mondays, we decided to go there every Monday to see them, of course.

Monday last I placed a Book of Mormon (along with my testimony).  The future groom committed to read it (we had previously marked the promise and some other key verses).  We have been to this stand three times, but they are so busy it is hard to talk.

This week the bride-to-be unloaded a bunch of frustrations with her future mother in law and people not liking the way she has planned things.  She looked so sad and close to tears.  After talking with us for a while, we offered to keep them in our prayers as they prepare to be married.  When we left, she had a more peaceful look on her face.  We'll check in next week for an update.  Since they live out of the area, we have to refer them for teaching to other missionaries.  That doesn't mean
we can't be supportive and move things along!

This is the back view of the council building.  The hamburger stand is behind me as I take this picture.  Hamburger buns are called, "Baps."

No, this is not The Men at Work (some of you are too young to even know that singing group), but they are men at work goofing around in the window of a store.  They were 'aving a lot of fun entertaining the shoppers and especially enjoyed getting their picture taken.
